ChatGPT is an AI chatbot developed by the company OpenAI. Built on the text of the web and large language models, ChatGPT can hold knowledgable conversions based on the information it has been provided. Whether that knowledge is accurate is debatable. This blog post is one in a series of conversations between AOI and ChatGPT which have an improv comedy feel to them.
The following transcript is exactly as it occurred and has not been edited in any way, except for removing duplicate questions which contained an AOI typo. We’ve also formatted and styled the text to make it easier to read and as a bonus have included a DALL•E 2 generated image as well, although Dr. Amelia may need surgery at some point herself. Feel free to produce this as a short film!
> Write a comedy play script about two doctors in surgery trying to save a patient but ultimately fall in love
Here’s a sample script for a comedic play about two doctors in surgery who fall in love:
Title: The Love Doctors
Scene: An operating room in a hospital.
(Lights up on DR. FRANK and DR. AMELIA, both in scrubs, working on a patient who is on the operating table. They are both frazzled and bickering.)
Dr. Frank: Could you hand me the scalpel, please?
Dr. Amelia: No! I need it!
Dr. Frank: You’re not even using it!
Dr. Amelia: I might need it!
(They continue to argue, until the patient starts to stir.)
Patient: (weakly) Can you two please stop arguing and save my life?
Dr. Frank: (ashamed) Sorry, sir. We’ll get right on that.
Dr. Amelia: (nodding) Yes, of course.
(They start to work, but they continue to bicker and argue, causing comical mishaps and misunderstandings. Eventually, they both realize that they have feelings for each other, and they start to flirt.)
Dr. Frank: (smiling) You know, I never thought I’d fall in love in the middle of a surgery.
Dr. Amelia: (smiling) Me neither. But sometimes life surprises us.
(They share a comical moment, where they both try to make a move on each other, but they keep getting interrupted by the patient and the other hospital staff.)
Patient: (laughing) Could you two please focus on me for a minute?
Dr. Frank: (laughing) Sorry, sir. We’ll get right on that.
(They continue to work, but they can’t keep their eyes off each other. Eventually, the surgery is a success, and the patient is stabilized.)
Dr. Frank: (sighs in relief) That was a close one.
Dr. Amelia: (smiling) We make a great team.
Dr. Frank: (nodding) I couldn’t have done it without you.
(They share a comical moment, where they finally make their move, but they keep getting interrupted by the patient and the other hospital staff. Lights fade out.)

Here’s the second scene of the play “The Love Doctors”:
Scene 2: The Hospital Lounge
(Lights up on the hospital lounge. DR. FRANK and DR. AMELIA are sitting next to each other on a couch, drinking coffee and laughing.)
Dr. Frank: (smiling) I can’t believe how well that surgery went.
Dr. Amelia: (smiling) I know. It’s like we’re meant to be together.
(They both blush and look away from each other, then back again.)
Dr. Frank: (nervously) So, uh, what are you doing later tonight?
Dr. Amelia: (nervously) I don’t have any plans. Why do you ask?
Dr. Frank: (grinning) Well, I was thinking maybe we could go on a date. You know, to celebrate our successful surgery.
Dr. Amelia: (excited) I’d love that!
(Just then, their boss, CHIEF OF SURGERY, enters the lounge.)
Chief of Surgery: (grinning) Frank, Amelia, I heard you two saved that patient’s life today. Great job!
Dr. Frank: (proud) Thank you, sir.
Dr. Amelia: (beaming) It was a team effort.
Chief of Surgery: (looking between the two of them) You two seem to work very well together. I might have to schedule you for more surgeries.
Dr. Frank: (smiling) We’d be happy to.
Dr. Amelia: (nodding) Absolutely.
Chief of Surgery: (smiling) Good. And I see you two are becoming quite the item.
(They both look at each other, then back at the Chief of Surgery, then back at each other.)
Dr. Frank: (smiling) Yeah, I guess we are.
Dr. Amelia: (smiling) Yeah, I guess we are.
Chief of Surgery: (grinning) Well, I don’t want to get in the way of your love life. I’ll leave you two to it.
(The Chief of Surgery exits the lounge. DR. FRANK and DR. AMELIA smile at each other, then share a kiss.)
Dr. Frank: (smiling) I can’t wait for our date tonight.
Dr. Amelia: (smiling) Me neither.

Dr. Amelia: (smiling) You’re too sweet.
(A WAITER enters and approaches their table.)
Waiter: (smiling) Are you two ready to order?
Dr. Frank: (grinning) Yes, we’ll have the seafood platter for two.
Waiter: (nodding) Excellent choice. And to drink?
Dr. Amelia: (grinning) Two glasses of your finest red wine.
Waiter: (smiling) Coming right up.
(The Waiter exits. DR. FRANK and DR. AMELIA look into each other’s eyes and smile.)
Dr. Frank: (seriously) Amelia, I have to tell you something.
Dr. Amelia: (nervously) What is it?
Dr. Frank: (smiling) I love you. I’ve loved you from the moment I saw you in that operating room.
Dr. Amelia: (smiling) I love you too. I don’t know how it happened, but I’m so grateful it did.
(They both lean in for a kiss, but are interrupted by a COMMOTION coming from the kitchen.)
Waiter: (running out) Help! Help! The kitchen is on fire!
(DR. FRANK and DR. AMELIA quickly stand up, look at each other, then race to the kitchen.)
Dr. Frank: (excited) We’re doctors! We can handle this!
Dr. Amelia: (excited) Let’s save this kitchen!
(Lights fade out.)
